Thank you Andrea Nicholas, and all the team at #Greentourism for awarding us Gold Tourism status, reflecting our passionate committment to #sustainability in all that we do.
Even more gratifying to know that it was also the opinion of an independent assessor and that we achieved an overall 82% score!
We received the silver award in 2020 from Green Tourism and have been since looking to gain our gold award standard. Green Tourism promote sustainable tourism across the globe. They have a Green check dashboard covering various elements on which you are asked to submit evidence.
At K&N Travel , we are passionate about sustainability and being green in all that we do . We encourage our clients to look at ways of enhancing their programme with minimal transport (you experience so much more of a destination on foot!), local food and drink, single use water bottles, giving back to the community and much more.
We are committed to bike to work schemes and use e-vehicles in our programmes wherever possible.
We also support a UK charity , Cyrenians, who help homeless people at a local level.
Just before Lockdown we went to their depot in Leith to help redistribute items from donated boxes of goods from major supermarkets , which then go to local homeless centres in Edinburgh.
Our team had signed up to a fundraising event’ Abseil the Forth Bridge’ which was postponed due to Covid, but we hope it will be reinstated soon.
In 2019, we offered our team expertise to Cyrenians to organize a fundraising dinner for them, to help both with venue finding and source prizes for an auction on the night.
The ‘summary ‘ of our score helps highlight the various areas which are examined when Green Tourism assess an applicant. (this doc is confidential). We were thrilled to achieve 82% overall score.
Green Tourism sent the good news to us in an email as follows;
‘’I have just concluded a “Gold Committee” with the rest of the technical team, and I am delighted to confirm that K & N Travel Associates have officially achieved the gold status. On behalf of myself, and the rest of the team, I would like to offer a huge congratulations on this fantastic achievement. Just as an FYI the gold committee is an extra layer of verification we have in place in which potential gold assessments are reviewed by an additional assessor, so you’ve not only achieved gold in my eyes but in the eyes of our lead assessor and the rest of the team too! ‘’
We truly believe that if we all do what we can to conserve the environment when planning events, we will make a difference and reach netzero , leaving the planet in better shape.
We wholeheartedly agree with whoever coined the phrase: ‘Teamwork makes the dreamwork!’
