Incorporating Scotch Whisky Tours into Incentive Programmes

Nothing feels more iconic than enjoying a dram of whisky in Scotland (we do it best!). Scotland offers a widevariety of cultural activities, but whisky programmes stand out for their blend of culture, heritage, education and tradition. For incentive groups, they create memorable moments that feel unique while being traditionally Scottish.

Why Include a Whisky Tour?

Dating back to the 11th century, Scotch whisky has been a part of the country’s story for over a thousand years. Its name comes from the Gaelic term uisge beatha, meaning “water of life”. At present, Scotch whisky is defined across five main categories: single malt, blended malt, single grain, blended grain and blended Scotch.

Across Scotland, visitors can explore more than 150 distilleries across popular whisky regions, including the Highlands, Islands, Islay, Campbeltown, Speyside and the Lowlands. For incentive groups, a whisky tour offers more than a tasting, it is a shared cultural experience, an insight into Scottish expertise, and is often a programme highlight for guests.

Including a whisky tour in your next programme adds a unique Scottish experience that can be tailored to suit your guests. Private tours and tasting sessions often create a memorable experience, giving guests the chance to sample drams right from the casks. Guests can enjoy exclusive access to the barrel rooms, and, in some distilleries, personalise their own bottle of whisky as a traditional souvenir of Scotland.

At K&N Travel, we are specialists in tailor-made programmes and we can add great value to your whisky experience by organising enhancements ranging from local caterers for canapés, private dinners, welcome drinks with a bagpiper upon arrival, whisky-making workshops, private tours and tasting experiences with traditional produce like artisan chocolates.

Recent Whisky Tour Programmes

  1. Scotland’s First Vertical Distillery

We recently hosted an incentive programme at Scotland’s first vertical distillery with over nine floors of Scottish delight. Renowned as the tallest whisky distillery in the world, this distillery offers a unique setting shaped by outstanding architecture, where guests enjoyed a private evening tour and tasting. The experience began in the gift shop, where the group had time to browse the distillery’s merchandise before beginning their tour.

Guests were guided through the distillery where they learned about the casks and single malts. There is also the possibility to add on an experience in the rooftop bar for drinks, canapes or even a private dinner with picturesque scenery looking over the Firth of Forth.

  • An Iconic Island Famous for Whisky Drams

Located on an iconic Scottish island, this distillery produces premium whisky that is like no other. They deliver a classic single malt Scotch whisky experience in an exciting Highland background. It is a continuous favourite within our whisky programmes, offering private guided tours, immersive tastings and opportunities to explore the whisky-making process. Groups can choose from a range of experiences, from classic tours and tasting to drawing whisky from premium-range casks.

  • Scotland’s Oldest Working Distillery

The distillery is an incentive classic situated in the blissful town of Crieff with beautiful views of the hills of Perthshire. This distillery gives guests the chance to experience the heritage of Scotland’s oldest working distillery with over 260 years of operating, dating back to 1763. Private group tours will have the chance to experience how the signature whisky is made, followed by enjoying a selection of dram tastings from their collection of casks.

  • Lowlands Riverside Whisky Experience

Seated on the banks of the River Clyde, this distillery offers a captivating welcome to traditional whisky making in a modern environment. Guests can learn about the region’s heritage of whisky, explore the facilities of a modern-day distillery, and discover the art behind the single malt. The experience finishes with a tasting of their signature malts, making it a bespoke experience for both whisky fans and guests looking to explore a slice of Scottish culture.
